Project Description
The public television audience, the dedicated viewers of our program, reflects the rich social and economic
landscape of our nation. Seventy-seven million households representing 141 million people watch public television
in any single month. Ninety-nine percent of all U.S. homes receive public television, 18 percent higher than the most
widely available cable networks. Through public television, our program will be available to an audience that looks
like America, without regard to region, ethnicity, gender or economic status. And PBS scheduling offers them
several opportunities to see each program, because stations have chosen to rebroadcast our shows.
PBS Endorsment
Character Studies has received a strong endorsment from PBS. Our series builds on the tradition of great cultural
programming on PBS, including American Masters, Great Performances, Masterpiece Theatre, Live from Lincoln Center
and Stage on Screen. In its letter of support, PBS stated its "high level of enthusiasm" for the series.
And it concluded that "public television stations have a strong interest in this wonderful series that
explores the dramatic arts."
